As the world meets the challenges of an unprecedented public health crisis, find out how we as a Group are supporting our communities and partners in responding to COVID-19.
De Beers Group is donating $5 million to support the extraordinary efforts of healthcare professionals, community leaders and all those confronting COVID-19 in the countries and our southern African diamond-producing communities.
They have made a further $200,000 donation to be split equally across its four producer partner countries of Botswana, Canada, Namibia and South Africa to assist women’s shelters and support organisations to respond to an increase in gender-based violence resulting from the COVID-19 situation.
Teams from both De Beers Group Institute of Diamonds in Maidenhead, UK and De Beers Marine SA in South Africa have stepped in to help the battle against COVID-19 by using 3D printers to create parts for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) needed by front line health workers.
We’ve opened our corporate apartments in London’s Hatton Garden for healthcare professionals, based at nearby St Bartholomew’s Hospital (Barts NHS), who are working long shifts or isolating to protect their families.
De Beers Group Institute of Diamonds has been helping its partners navigate this uncertain path by providing a free education course, enabling partners to expand their professional knowledge during these challenging times.
